Below is a 'Passport to Alaska' that I created for a trip we took this fall. We traveled for about 2 weeks from the top of Alaska down to Vancouver and then home. It was an amazing trip, a long trip, but a ton of fun.
Much to my surprise, this was a relatively quick project. I bought all of the supplies at PaperTales (of course) on a Saturday, late afternoon, and had the book done before dinner on Sunday. The cover is from 7-gypsies and was altered with all kinds of rub-ons, stamps and adhesive letters, I also distressed the cover to give it a little more of a vintage feel. (I'm always amazed at what I can do with a nail file.)
Now, for a picture of what it really looked like when we were traveling...
As you can see, I added elastic to the back cover via some large eyelets so that you could close the book without losing your goods!! The next few pages are some of the inside sheets I created. All of the paper is October Afternoon, Road Map collection. I absolutely love the entire collection and you will notice some of the Road Map rub-ons and other accents as well.
The pages below are pretty self-explanatory, I added lots of pockets and enclosures so that I could keep all the hotel, car, train, plain and boat info separate.
So while most of the pictures I've posted have been with empty pockets so you can see the actual book, I wanted to show you at least one page of what it really looked like.
And so you have it, my Passport to Alaska. The beauty of the project is that after the trip was done and the "passport" had officially done its duty, I turned it into the trip scrapbook. By adding some of the pictures, receipts, and journaling our memories, it was the quickest vacation/scrapbook turnaround I've ever had. (this coming from the girl who still hasn't finished her honeymoon scrapbook...)
Happy travels!!!
